Bix Beiderbecke was the first great white jazz musician to earn the respect of his black peers. He was the only individual Armstrong ever lent his horn to. After Bix's funeral, Hoagy Carmichael carried his mouthpiece in his pocket the rest of his life. Big tribute to big talent.
