Let's Riiide captures California's
motorcycle world like nothing else - 3.5 hours of pure joy. All shot in
high-definition and divided into 9 chapters.
Chapter 1. Welcome to Los
Angeles. Ancient creeks and donkey trails have
now been paved, transforming them into perfect bike roads, both in and around L.A. - absolute heaven
for bike riding. You get to know two dyed-in-the-wool Harley riders, the symbol
of American bike culture, and learn how to leave stress and worries behind when
you ride. Discover some of the best biker restaurants in L.A., tucked away in the mountains and
cradled by the sea.
Chapter 2. Pacific Coast Highway - This is the reason
all bikers come to California.
Ride the coast road between L.A. and San Francisco, via the Redwood Forests, ending in San Francisco with a perfect sunset over the Golden Gate bridge.
Chapter 3. A Day at the Racetrack - Follow trackday
regular Rick Becker at Buttonwillow Racetrack and learn how to best prep
yourself and your bike for the adrenaline rush of cornering at 100+.
Chapter 4. Weekend Getaway - On a visit to the
American Riveria in the Santa Barbara
area you discover perfect bike roads with rolling hills, old oak trees and
vineyards as far as you can see. Highlights include a trip to Curtis Winery for
the inside scoop on wine and a visit to the MC museum in Solvang, one of the
best in the country, with a private tour from owner Virgil Elings. Up in the
mountains above Santa Barbara
is an old stage coach stop called Cold Spring Tavern - it's both a living piece
of history as well as a bike heaven on Sundays.
Chapter 5. Who Are They? - Store owners give their take
on why bike ownership has exploded over the last decade. This chapter also
follows two young daredevils as they fly around the twisty roads in the
mountains, hears from Bill Conti as he explains how a sunset is equal to riding
a bike and finds out about winemaker Dan Gerhs' raging hormones and how his
motorcycle keeps him young.
Chapter 6. Retro is Right - One of the best restorers
in L.A., who also does a lot of historic bike
creations for major Hollywood films, gives his
view on the fascination on taking old thrown-away parts and making them come
alive into a living functioning motorcycle. You visit Corsa Classica, the
biggest vintage race, show and swap-meet in the south-west, hear from some of
the vintage racers and learn that the camaraderie and the riding itself is more
important than winning.
Chapter 7. Practice Makes Perfect - How do you get
started? Visit an MSF course and learn that going into 3rd gear is an
adrenaline rush for beginners. You also discover an airbag jacket for
motorcycle riders, take a track course with English former racer Reg Pridmore
and discover that this sport is full of your non typical track-rats. Many
middle aged men and women fly around the track, showing that your love for
speed can be satisfied without risking your life on city streets.
Chapter 8. Where the Pavement Ends - Yes, you can be a
nature child and bring your motorcycle along. California has a whole world to discover
beyond the boundaries of paved roads. There are many large areas designated for
motorsport recreation. Dive right in and take a dirt-bike class where you learn
how to best stay up-right on various surfaces. Plus, follow AdMo tours on
an adventure in the wilderness right outside LA.
Chapter 9. The Future is Electric - Discover an
all-electric motorcycle at an electric vehicle expo in Palo Alto and meet an inventor who uses
digital technology to replace all analog switching on a bike.
"If you've ever thought about riding in the fabled
lands of California
and wanted to know what it was really like, then you need to watch this DVD -
Let's Riiide! Made by a couple of ex-pat Scandinavians with ever so
slightly Swedish Chef-type voices that you might find amusing if you're as
childish as me, it's three and a half hours long and covers just about every
facet of the California bike scene...It's a reet good watch, but I will warn
you, it should come with a health warning - watching this DVD will make you
want to fly to California and get on a bike immediately if not sooner" - 100%
