Signed Limited Edition Mercedes 300SLR
no.722 sculpture
Limited Edition Streamliner 1/18th Scale
Aluminium #722 300 SLR sculpture.
The stunning sculptures of the 1955 Millie
Miglia winning Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR #722, by Kevin Hicks of Streamliner
Designs, driven to victory by Sir Stirling and his navigator Denis Jenkinson,
are cast in aluminium from a master that took over 500 hours to create. They
are then put through a number of polishing processes resulting in a superbly
detailed and faithful 1/18th scale version of this record breaking car.
The sculpture is licensed by both Stirling
Moss Ltd and Mercedes-Benz and comes in a beautiful leatherette presentation
box featuring Stirling’s official brand. Based
on the successful W196R Formula One racing car, the 300 SLR was developed for
the 1955 world sports car championship. The chassis was used in largely
unmodified form but engine displacement was enlarged to 183 cubic inches to
make full use of the scope allowed by the sports car championship regulations.
With reference to its displacement, the racing sports car was given the
enticing designation 300 SLR.
Stirling and his navigator Jenks drove this car to victory in the legendary
Mille Miglia in 1955 at a record speed record of 97.5mph - a record that remains
unbroken to this day.
The pieces are made to order, although one
or two pieces may be held in stock.
The limited signed edition of 80 pieces
(from the total of 300) will come complete with a numbered Certificate of
Authenticity signed by Sir Stirling Moss OBE
