Sporting Years to Remember - 1948 on DVD is a look back at the headline sporting news from 1948.

1948 was the year that saw the Olympic Games (the first since 1936) held in London. The star of the Games is the remarkable Dutchwoman Fanny Blankers-Koen, who in relative middle age wins 4 golds in the sprint events. Don Bradman, the greatest batsman in cricketing history, brought his invincible Australians to England and played his last ever test innings at The Oval, and an off-spinner, Jim Laker, made his test debut against the West Indies and took seven first innings wickets.

1948 was also the year when Arsenal, inspired by Joe Mercer, coasted to their 6th League title, when Manchester United defeated Blackpool (starring the legendary Stanley Matthews) in one of the greatest FA Cup Finals, and the England football team travelled to Italy and - wait for it - won 4-0!

In horse racing 58 runners started the Lincoln, the biggest ever field in British flat racing, and Henry Cotton (arguably the finest ever British golfer) won his third Open Championship at Muirfield.

Using archive sports film this is a wonderful and nostalgic look back at some of the sporting headlines from 1948.
