REACH HIGHER THE OFFICIAL ANTHEM OF THE 2011 COMMONWEALTH YOUTH GAMES
Davy Knowles was commissioned to compose the anthem for the Commonwealth Youth Games by the Isle of Man Arts Council as part of its support for the Games. The Council is part of the Isle of Man Government’s Department of Community, Culture & Leisure.
Davy Knowles was born and raised on the Isle of Man. As a teenager in 2007, he quickly caught the attention of blues fans and fellow musicians alike following the release of his critically acclaimed debut album "Roll Away". A year long tour of the US followed with his band 'Back Door Slam'. Since then, he has played over 400 shows and toured with the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rhythm Devils, Govt Mule, Chickenfoot and guitar legends Jeff Beck and Joe Satriani -who calls Davy his 'favourite modern day bluesman'. His 2nd album, 'Coming Up For Air' was produced by and features Peter Frampton and like it's predecessor, reached no.2 in the Billboard Blues Chart.
Davy is one of only two musicians to play a song live from NASA Mission Control to the Space Station, which he did for Astronaut Nicole Stott - Nicole also played Davy's albums 'in space' while on shuttle Discovery's last ever mission.
