THE INDUSTRIAL LANDSCAPE
Fred Dibnah talks about growing up in Bolton in
the 1940s, when Britain
was the most industrialised nation in the world, an era that is now almost
forgotten but Fred reminds us of it. His childhood memories of the
industries he was surrounded by became the biggest influences on his life
and work. If it was heavy, dirty or dangerous, it would fascinate him and
he passes on his interest with passion and humour.
BACK STREET MECHANIC
Fred’s back garden contains probably the finest working
example of an entirely steam powered workshop in the country built out of
scrap and cast off's from old mills and factories. Fred takes us on a tour
of this garden, his pride and joy and shows us how the machines work and
explains how they were built and the pitfalls and difficulties
he encountered along the way.
