THE IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM COLLECTION features rare and fascinating original films preserved in the Museum's archives. Many have never been released to the public before and are presented here, complete and uncut, for the very first time. These films are of great historical importance and are essential viewing for anyone interested in British military history.

BRITISH AIRBONE FORCES AT WAR collects together six rare films focusing on paratrooper units and glider-borne forces, combining frontline combat footage with behind the scenes material covering training, maneuvers and equipment.

OPERATION "MARKET" A public information film made in 1944 chronicling the air armada that took British troops to Arnhem, with exceptional air-to-air film, aerial views of glider landing zones and Stirlings and Halifaxes towing gliders.

AIRBORNE ASSAULT Made for the Ministry of Supply in 1945 for showing to factory workers, this film follows airborne forces on a large-scale exercise, with particular focus on their equipment and weaponry, including the then-new PIAT 3" mortar.

OPERATION VARSITY A public information film made in 1945, giving an account of the 6th British Airborne Division's support of the 18th US Airborne Corps in what was the largest single airborne landing of WWll. The assault was in support of 'Operation Plunder' - the crossing of the Rhine.

PEGASUS: THE STORY OF AIRBORNE FORCES Made for the Army Kinema Corporation in 1950 as a training film, this is a salute to Britain's airborne elite with a look at their capabilities in a post-war world. Highlights include then-new aircraft such as the Hastings and glider recovery operations.

PARATROOPS Made for the Ministry of Information in 1942, the film is a celebration of the prowess of Britain's paratroop forces.

AIRCRAFT RECOGNITION One of many films produced by the Directorate of Army Kinematography. Made in 1942 - when it was rated 'secret' - this is an invaluable recognition guide to the newly introduced Horsa glider.
