Take a journey to the rooftop of the world.
At the height of the British Raj in the late nineteenth century, Franklin Prestage, Agent of the East Bengal Railway, proposed what many thought was impossible - a track running from the humid plains of Siliguri to the alpine heights of Darjeeling.
Over a hundred years later the famous ‘Toy Train’ is still running up the Himalayas to the same destination, following the same ingenious loops and zigzags. Tough threatened with closure on numerous occasions the line has now been granted ‘World Heritage’ status, thus guaranteeing it a secure future.
