ON-BIKE RACE ACTION FROM THE 2010 TT TO ENJOY

Within 48 hours of the first day of racing ending at the 2010 Isle of Man TT, Duke had four complete laps from the Superbike and first Sidecar races available to buy on DVD. And just 24 hours after Monday’s Supersport and Superstock showdowns, another volume of white-knuckle on-board action was in the shops!

The turnaround was quick – but the quality is in no way compromised. Using the spectacular footage of North One Television, these DVDs feature the highest quality on-bike laps captured during the TT.

Isle of Man TT On-Bike Laps 2010 Volume 2 offers four complete laps of the 37.73-mile Mountain circuit. The first three come from the six-lap PokerStars Superbike event, run on Saturday afternoon, while the final is from the epic three-lap Sure Sidecar race of the same day.

First up is Keith Amor on the 1000cc HM Plant Honda, with the rear-facing camera letting you share the experience of battling with Cameron Donald for more than 12 miles. This is true high speed drama, all happening at an average speed of 128.9mph! On lap two it is the turn of Bruce Anstey on the Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing Superbike to act as cameraman. From a standing start he hits an average of 126.9mph, making use of a clear track and his smooth, stylish riding to give you a wonderful rider’s-eye view from the forward-facing camera. Anstey’s Australian teammate Donald is back next, escorting us around the second lap of the Superbike race at more than 129mph on the 1000cc Suzuki.

The final lap of Volume 2 features a maiden TT win for one of the event’s most hard-working stars – former sidecar World Champion Klaus Klaffenbock. After years of misfortune, it all came good for the Austrian, with Manxman Daniel Sayle, in the first race for chairs this year. It was an epic battle against TT legend Dave Molyneux on corrected time, but on the track we witness a nose-to-tail dice with Tim Reeves at speeds of up to 145mph – and you’d better hang on tight, because you’re in the passenger chair of the 600cc LCR Honda outfit!

For Isle of Man TT On-Bike Laps 2010 Volume 3 we’ve increased the content to five laps – we just had to stay on board with Guy Martin for more after a scintillating first lap of the Royal London 360 Superstock race!

First up is Michael Dunlop on lap four of the Superbike TT, the rear-facing camera letting you feel every slide as rear tyre of the Street Sweep/Robinson Concrete Superbike fights for grip under the power of the 1000cc Honda engine. Lapping at 128.87mph, we see how Dunlop uses every inch of the road and the late braking into Creg-ny-Baa will leave you shaking – almost as much as the dice with Guy Martin between Glen Helen and Ballaugh and the terrifying moment at the bottom of Barregarrow!

Next is TT2010’s “Mr Consistency”  - Ian Hutchinson. We go on board for the first lap of the Superstock race, which Hutchy would win and set a staggering new lap record for. The forward-facing camera records Hutchinson averaging 128.759mph from a standing start, his control and smooth style making it look easy as he claws back 10 seconds on veteran Ian Lougher by Ramsey, before drafting past and onto a jaw-dropping run over the Mountain – this is why in just two days of racing Hutchinson was catapulted into the list of TT greats.

Australian star Cameron Donald didn’t have the start to the 2010 TT he wished for, but it wasn’t through a lack of effort. This single lap – the final circuit of the Monster Energy Supersport race 1 – throws just about every challenge the TT has to offer at you as you ride on the 600cc Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing machine at an average speed of more than 122mph. Battling to control the bike through Handley’s and Rhencullen, dealing with slower machines, negotiating yellow flags, suffering every bump from Sulby to Ramsey and dicing with Ian Lougher and Conor Cummins – it’s all here. You’ll find yourself leaning into the bends as the front-facing camera shows Donald flicking the Suzuki left and right with alarming speed.

Finally, it is the always entertaining Guy Martin on the Wilson Craig Honda Royal London 360 Superstock race. This is heart-in-the-mouth stuff as we join Martin for the first lap, at more than 127mph. He takes the forward-facing camera so close to the walls and hedges at times you would swear the rider must be brushing the scenery. In fact, this ride was so good we had to have more – so we stay on board for lap two as Martin goes on a flier – pulling back Ian Lougher’s 50 second start advantage by Kirk Michael on lap 2! This sequence also includes one of the most terrifying on-board moments ever captured – just watch out for Adrian Archibald as we blast into Barregarrow!

Isle of Man TT On-Bike Laps 2010 Volume 1, featuring practice laps with Anstey, Amor, Donald and John McGuinness – at more than 130mph – was released on Friday, June 4th.

The Duke Road Race Rankings has added another big event for 2010 - the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix.

The Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix has become the latest prestigious event to count towards the Duke Road Race Rankings seriesThe Duke Road Race Rankings has added another big event for 2010 - the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Now in its ninth year, the rankings are the only series which creates a season-long points table for road racing. The Isle of Man TT, North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix already feature on the calendar, but it has been revealed that in 2010, for the first time, the Macau GP, due to be held from November 18 to 21, will be on the schedule.

Peter Duke, a founder of the series and Managing Director of Isle of Man-based Duke Video, announced the inclusion of Macau during the launch of the 2010 Duke Road Race Rankings on Friday night.

The 2010 schedule, which gets under way on April 18 in Scarborough with the Ian Watson Spring Cup, was unveiled at the same event as the race programmes for this year's Southern 100, Pre-TT Classic and Post TT Road Races were launched.

Mr Duke said:

'The big change this year is that we're adding Macau. I think there are enough serious road racers who go over there now to make it sensible for us to add the event to the schedule.'

'The addition of another major event at the end of the season ensures we maintain the balance between the international and national road races which makes the Duke Road Race Rankings the only comprehensive measure of the performance of road racers over a full season.'

'It also means the Duke Road Race Rankings' season will continue until late November, and with Macau's reputation as tough and challenging circuit, it could throw up some last minute surprises in the outcome of the series.'

The Grand Prix at Macau, near Hong Kong, is held around the 3.8-mile Guia circuit. The current lap record of 2 minutes 25.17 seconds was set during the 2009 event, when Stuart Easton beat Ramsey rider Conor Cummins in a dramatic 15-lap battle to take his second victory at the GP.

The entry usually boasts many of the best road racers and short circuit riders around, including John McGuinness, Ian Hutchinson, Guy Martin, Michael Rutter and Simon Andrews.

The 2010 Duke Road Race Rankings will feature 25 race meetings and more than 200 races. Ryan Farquhar took his fourth series win, and his second in a row, in 2009. Northern Ireland's most successful road racer has an added incentive to take another victory this year – as the winner in both 2008 and 2009, the Dungannon star will be able to keep the prestigious Geoff Duke Trophy if he claims his third rankings win in a row.

More accolades for FarquharMore accolades for Farquhar

Ryan Farquhar received more accolades on Friday night, in recognition of his stunning 2009 road racing season, a year that saw him chalk up a staggering 61 race wins, take 6 National championships and break Joey Dunlop's long standing record of 118 National race wins. The Dungannon flyer was in attendance at the annual Irish Racer Magazine awards ceremony in Belfast and the 33-year old picked up both the National Road Racer of the Year and Team of the Year awards, just rewards for his and the KMR Kawasaki teams' scintillating seasons.

With over 500 guests in attendance, including special guest MotoGP ace Loris Capirossi, Farquhar also received the highly prestigious Duke Road Race Rankings trophy, the third time he has taken this particular award, given to the rider who records the highest number of points over the 25 road races held in the British Isles during the course of the year.

In the feature Irish Motorcyclist of the Year category, Ryan had to settle for third as he was just pipped to the post by World Championship riders Eugene Laverty, who won the trophy, and Jonathan Rea.

Speaking later, a clearly delighted Ryan said:

"2009 really was a fantastic year for me and to have my achievements recognised tonight in front of so many people is a real honour. I'm particularly proud to have picked up the Team of the Year trophy as we were really up against it all year long but we proved what can be achieved with commitment and dedication. Last year was a complete team effort for the entire season and whilst I was the rider out there on the bike, it was only made possible by my loyal sponsors supporting me all the way and by the hard work of all the team members. The three trophies I've won tonight are as much for them as they are for me and we're all really looking forward to 2010 where we hope to do even better!"

Ryan is pictured receiving the Duke Road Race Rankings Trophy from series founder Peter Duke (Stephen Davison - Pacemaker Press International).

Isle of Man TT Review DVD released in Japan

Isle of Man TT Review DVD released in JapanThe Official DVD Review of the record-breaking 2009 Isle of Man TT has gone on sale in Japan.

The TT enjoys a strong following in the country, not least because of the dominance of Japanese manufacturers like Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha – as well as the involvement of talented Japanese riders like Yoshinari Matsushita.

It is the third year the Official DVD Review has been released in Japan by Tokyo-based Wick Visual.

Under an agreement with the Isle of Man Government, Manx firm Duke holds the worldwide DVD rights for the TT and licenses firms in territories around the globe to release the review.

Deals have already been concluded for the TT to be released under license in Australia, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic and now Japan. Duke already distributes the official review itself in the British Isles and United States of America.

Duke Commercial Director Jon Quayle said:

‘Wick is a longstanding customer of ours, and has been producing Japanese language versions of our DVDs for the last decade. In 2007 we reached an agreement for Wick to produce the Official TT Review for the Japanese market, and it has proved such a success we are now in the third year of that deal.’

Duke supplies Wick with the master tapes of the North One Television footage which is seen on the UK version of the review, a commentary script, designs for the menus and sleeve, the sleeve copy and all the necessary logos.

Wick uses those components to create the Japanese version, which is almost identical to the DVD sold in the British Isles and USA, except, of course, it is in Japanese.

To assist customers who may not be familiar with the TT, Wick has also created a special insert for the DVD which profiles the event and includes a map of the course with all the landmarks.

Wick is now supplying stores around Japan with the TT 2009 DVD, as well as selling online, and is supporting the release with television advertising.

Mr Quayle added:

‘The company has also decided to license the on-board footage which featured on our three-disc TT2009 On-Bike Laps collection, so TT fans in Japan will be able to share the incredible experience of witnessing the incredible Mountain Course from the riders’ point-of-view.’
