Manx Electric Railway NO. 24 – Winter 2007/08 DVD - Description
The latest programme in the Manx Electric
series looks at the summer and autumn of 2007 with bonus footage of the Isle of
Man Steam Railway, Snaefell Mountain Railway and the Groudle Glen Railway.
The programme begins with coverage of one
of the most incredible days on the MER for over a decade - Thursday 7th June.
Right at the peak of the TT races, there
was an unprecedented demand for trams which saw twenty cars in service at once!
With numerous extra journeys to Ramsey, a 10/15 minute service was operated
between Douglas and Laxey.
See cars 1+41 on an early morning journey
to Ramsey, cars 32+62 on specials, the bizarre sight of car 26 being driven
from the back cab, the car sheds at Douglas -
almost empty and various other motor and trailer combinations. And all in
glorious sunshine!
To the autumn period and three interesting
days in late October are featured. With just a few days before winter closure
and the open cars tucked away, the service was provided by cars 19, 21 and 22
with help from 6.

weather and some stunning evening shots of the last journeys of the day at
dusk.
MER Scrapbook: This special edition of the
MER scrapbook looks at which trams could face the chop following an
announcement by the Government that they wish to downsize the fleet. From the
long-stored cars to the current operational fleet, trams like 17 and 30 are
featured with trailers 50, 53 and 54.
Bonus footage: It's back to the summer with
coverage of the enthusiast events from July, with Caledonia
working an evening excursion on the IMR.
Fenella and Loch
double head a service train to Port Erin, and steam, diesel and electric power
is featured on the Groudle Glen Railway. Some odd moves are featured on the Snaefell Mountain railway with trams running
wrong line to depot.
