In the team competition Germany's strength in depth proved decisive in warding off the rapidly improving Dutch squad who closed the gap since Atlanta by 63 points. The battle for bronze saw USA's Christine Traurig, the last competitor of the day just pull off the required 69% to beat the Danes.
INDIVIDUAL
In the individual the dressage world was treated to a spectacular head-to-head for the final time between Anky van Grunsven and Isabell Werth with Anky and Bonfire finally lowering the colours of the mighty German combination with a record Kur score of 86.05%
