Istabraq First Burst Onto the Cheltenham Festival Scene in 1997 BY Winning the Sun Alliance Novices' Hurdle. in 1998 HE Moved Up, and Won the Champion Hurdle. HE Then Incredibly Won the Champion Hurdle Again in 1999 and 2000. the Festival Was Cancelled in 2001 Due to the Outbreak of Foot and Mouth – Would HE Have Won? We’ll Never Know. and SO to 2002.
There Was Huge Interest in His Attempt to Claim an Unprecedented 4TH Champion Hurdle in 2002 at Cheltenham - Proof of the Horse’s Enormous Popularity ON Both Sides of the Irish Sea. Despite Consistent Rumours About His Well-being, the Irish Made Him A Sentimental Favourite For the Race. However, IT Was Soon Evident That Istabraq Was Not in Ideal Shape and HE Was Pulled UP After Just Two Flights.
