Description
Ulla Salzgeber and Rusty duly retained their World Cup Final beating off a strong challenge from Denmark's Lars Petersen and Blue Hors Cavan.
For the first time the Grand Prix did not count toward the final result save for establishing the starting list for the Kur.
There were several excellent performances lower down the order bucking the trend of previous years. Most notable of these were Russia's Elena Sidneva on the impressive Hanoverian bred Artax-Condor and the two American riders Lisa Wilcox and Steffen Peters, which consolidated their challenge for team places in athe World Equestrian Games later in the year.
However Rusty's victory was not without some controversy as several clear mistakes appeared to be ignored by the majority of the judges. Ulla Salzgeber felt something was amiss with Rusty early in the test but only Dutch judge Jan Peeters marked her down because of the mistakes.
The 10 leading tests are shown in full with extensive highlights of the remaining 4.
