Introduction

Description

The 16th FEI World Cup Dressage finals were rescued by the Danish Equestrian Federation when Brazil withdrew at the last minute due to administration problems, so they were held at Vilhemlsborg Castle Equestrian Centre, Aarhus.

The foot and mouth crisis prevented reigning champion Anky van Grunsven from defending her title on Partout but the Olympic silver and bronze medallist from Sydney, Isabell Werth and Ulla Salzgeber were joined by Rudolf Zeilinger to dominate the competition and ultimately make it a German 1, 2, 3, in front of local favourite Lars Petersen.

Ulla Salzgeber had won all 4 qualifiers she competed in on her way to the finals and she was the favourite to be the first German to win since 1994 and duly obliged, riding her Olympic horse the 13-year-old Rusty.

Extensive highlights of the Kur with all the leading tests being shown in full and highlights of the remainder.
