Aston Martin Dbr 1 Carroll Shelby Etching - Description
A wonderful limited edition etching by world renowned motorsport artist Peter Hearsey featuring Carroll Shelby's Aston Martin DBR 1. The image is 6" x 8" and is printed in black. It is one of just 50 and has been signed and numbered by the artist.
Specialising in automotive subjects, Peter Hearsey's love for motor racing shines through in his work. Peter is a member of the Automotive Fine Arts Society in America and has exhibited widely in the States. He has created the artwork for every Goodwood Festival of Speed poster since the event began and his work is collected worldwide.
Etchings are created by coating a metal plate with an acid-resistant ground and then drawing an image, in reverse, into the ground with a needle to expose the metal. The plate is then immersed in an acid bath; the acid biting into the exposed lines. When this etching process is finished the plate is cleaned of acid and ground. The etched lines are then filled with ink which are transferred onto paper when the plate is passed through an etching press.
