On his first voyage aboard the pilot cutter ‘Mascotte’ Jamie Owen heads for six of the islands that lie just off the Welsh coast. He learns how isolation is a way of life for the monks of Caldey Island, meets the Ramsey Island farmer with a tragic story to tell and the artist inspired by the beauty of Anglesey. Through storms and treacherous tides, Jamie’s voyage around Wales is never plain sailing but is always eventful.
