Farnborough 1964-1988 DVD - Description

îBetween 1964 and 1988, Farnborough grew from an exclusively British aviation showcase to one of the world's leading airshows featuring the very latest in international aviation.

John Blake, show commentator from 1974-1992 and author of 40 Years at Farnborough's S.B.A.C International Aviation Showcase, presents this unique show-by-show film history of the event in those action-packed years.

Combining newsreel footage and official film records of Farnborough, it presents a dazzling array of aircraft, with ground cameras recording the ultra low-level fly past, air-to-air filming and even early in-cockpit material! All the shows featured are in full colour.

Literally dozens of aircraft are captured on film in various marks. Military aircraft include the Buccaneer, Victor, Vulcan, Atlantique, Fiat G91, Nimrod, Harrier, Jaguar, SR71 Blackbird and Tornado. Research Aircraft and prototypes include NB115, BAC 221 and the P1127 (Harrier prototype). Civil Airliners include Concord, the VC10, Super VC10, Trident, Lockheed Tristar and the A300 and A310 Airbus along with many others. Helicopters include the Westland Wessex, Whirlwind, Lynx (and Super Lynx), Sea King and Wasp to name but a few. Harriers, Scimitars, Sea Vixens, 92 Squadron Lightnings, the Jet Provosts of the Red Pelicans and the Army Blue Eagles helicopter display team are all captured flying formations or performing aerobatics Ð as well as many early performances by the legendary Red Arrows flying Gnats and Hawks.

Other features on this DVD include: the unforgettable sight of two RAF Tornados escorting in two visiting MiG 29's, a close up look at the giant AN-124, a combined Army and Navy simulated airfield assault, the crash of the Sikorsky Blackhawk S-67 at the 1974 show, Harriers performing a 'ski jump' take off and a simulated airfield assault by Sea Harriers, two appearances by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flights, Airship visits, the 1984 dh Buffalo crash, the restored Comer Racer in flight and much, much more.
