Description
This is the official DVD review of Aston Villa's 2006/2007 season. You'll be able to relive all the goals and highlights from a season of change which ultimately ended very much on an optimistic note.
David O'Leary left the club in July 2006 and by August Martin O'Neill was unveiled by Doug Ellis as the new manager of Aston Villa. It was 'Deadly' Doug's last major decision at Villa as he finally relinquished ownership to American, Randy Lerner. Lerner certainly got off to a good start and clearly had an appreciation of Villa's history, manifesting itself in the 1982 European Cup victory celebrations that took place.
On the pitch, Villa got off to a reasonable start, and were the first competitive goal scorers at Arsenal's new Emirates Stadium on the first day of the 2006/2007 Premier League season. However, there was a mid-season slump when Villa went 12 Premiership games without a victory and by mid January a relegation battle was a distinct possibility.
Martin O'Neill strengthened the team in the January window, adding John Carew, Ashley Young, Shaun Maloney and Phillip Bardsley on loan. This helped to prevent a further slide down the table and eventually form picked up and Villa ended the season on a 9 game unbeaten run. By the end of the season Villa finished in 11th position, only 6 points from a UEFA Cup place.
Here’s a great way to relive the 2006/2007 season on this official Aston Villa DVD. Enjoy all the highlights and goals, from the like of Gabriel Agbonlahor, Gareth Barry, Luke Moore and John Carew, in what ultimately became a season to ensure Villa fans were optimistic about the future.
The season of many changes for Aston Villa is perfectly summarised for all Villa fans on this season review DVD brought to you by the Sky Sports DVD Shop.
