Product description

The eleven round championship was once more to provide a season long feast of speed and spectacle. Each race was close fought; the first seven races produced a different winner at the flag.

This series provided a test of pure skill and ability for those drivers able to master their 450 horsepower cars on a mixture of circuits, from the wide open spaces of Silverstone and Jarama, to the street circuits of Pau and Birmingham.

With close racing the norm, any slight error or mechanical malfunction meant instant demotion down the field, so fierce was the competition.

The battle for overall honours was between the Marlboro March's of Stefano Modena and Yannick Dalmas, the Ralt Hondas of Reberto Moreno and Mauricio Gugelmin, together with the Lolas of Luis Perez Sala and Michel Trolle, with the championship being decided at the final round in the white hot heat of Jarama.

Brands Hatch was to provide the first British winner of an International F3000 race, with Julian Bailey upsetting the established aces in only his third F3000 race.

Motor racing at its finest, the evenly matched racing providing thrills and spills worthy of its status as the proving ground for future Grand Prix stars.
