Clive Lloyds Finest Hour 1975 World Cup DVD - Description
In the first ever Cricket World Cup, it was staged in England and the cricketing public was treated to feast of great one day cricket. In the early days of one day cricket the games were played over 60 overs unlike today when all one day internationals are played over 50 overs. The West Indies won the first Cricket World Cup by beating Australia in a great final at Lords. In a great final featured some of the games greats including Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards, Jeff Thompson and Dennis Lillie. The West Indies skipper Lloyd scored a fantastic hundred and the young Viv Richard kept running out the Australian in their reply just failing by 18 runs in the end.
In all it was a great first Cricket World Cup as big enthusiastic crowds thronged the six grounds for most of the matches. In particular the West Indians celebrated their team wherever they played and transformed the Oval and Lord's into Caribbean carnivals with their drums and whistles, brought to the occasion a special excitement previously foreign to the game in England.
