The 1986 Lombard RAC Rally was the last truly competitive event to be contested by all of the current Group B 'supercars'. Cars such as the Peugeot 205 T16 and the Lancia Delta S4 would never again be seen in head-to-head World Championship competition. The Peugeots were driven by Juha Kankkunen and Timo Salonen. Ford had Stig Blomqvist, Kalle Grundel and Mark Lovell. Lancias were in the hands of Markku Alen and Mikael Ericsson. And Austin Rover Metors included those of Tony Pond, Jimmy McRae, Malcolm Wilson and David Llewellyn.
