The 1988 Argentinian Rally saw the return of the Martini Lancia after missing the last round in New Zealand. Two of the all-conquering Delta Integrale cars were used, one for championship leader Miki Biasion, the other for local hero Jorge Recalde. A third Integrale was driven by Franz Wittmann. The best of the Argentina runners, Recalde apart, were struggling to keep with the pace set by the Chilean driver Jose Celsi driving a Subaru RX Turbo. The superb countryside mirrored the efforts of the World's finest rally competitors as they battle through the heat and dust in South America.
