The Isle of Man graced the 1990 Manx Rally with warm sunshine and although the event didn’t attract quite as many European drivers as hoped, those who entered put up a highly competitive performance. Top drivers included such worthies as Bertie Fisher (BMW M3), Colin McRae (Ford RS Cosworth), Se pages Haider (Opel Kadett GSi), Russell Brookes (Ford Sapphire Cosworth 4x4) and Chris Birbeck on a rare outing (Vauxhall Astra GT/E). The event was action packed all the way and punctuated by some spectacular incidents including one massive prang which is featured in this video. Controversy raised its ugly head towards the end but the strongest memories are of some fast, exciting sport on the island.
