Rallycross moved across the water for the fifth round of the 1988 European Rallycross Championship, held at Mondello Park. Matti Alamaki (Peugeot 205 T16 E2) was the man to catch, having won three of the four rounds so far in 1988. There were no shortage of chasers, headed by Martin Schanche and Mark Rennison (Ford RS200). France again saw the Alamaki alchemy working to good effect. The format of rallycross, with qualifying heats and finals, provides you with magnificent highlights of one of the most exciting (and physical!) forms of motorsport.
