When the 1987 European Rallycross got under way in Austria and Sweden, it proved to be an enthralling year. Interviews with the drivers, on-board camerawork and a commentary of informed yet dry humour add to the glamour of this superb video from the opening two rounds. Saabs, Volkswagens, Fords and Audi Quattros vied with each other to try to steal the early championship advantage, with Matti Alamaki having changed camps to Lancia, Seppo Nittymaki, Olle Arnesson, Kjetil Bolneset and Martin Schanche all pushing him in their desire to prove he'd made the wrong move.
