In conditions more suited to powerboat racing than F1, Ayrton Senna confirmed his practice pole position by taking the JPS Lotus to victory in the 1985 Portuguese Grand Prix. By doing so he interrupted the domination of Alain Prost and the Marlboro McLaren team and recorded his first ever world championship win. The heavy rain in Portugal forced organisers to curtail the race after two hours. Niki Lauda struggled with mechanical trouble until he eventually stopped altogether a few laps from the premature end. But it was not a day to be brave and this film captures the coolness of Senna's approach to a GP where just about everyone was off the track at least once.
