Round 3 - Zolder, Belgium, 27-29 April, 1984

Following Rio and Kyalami the McLaren team of Prost and Lauda looked to have an impressive grip on the championship. Their MP4-2 chassis handled consistently, Porsche's TAG V6 produced superb power whilst the Bosch engine management system gave excellent fuel economy. However at Zolder, one of the most challenging GP circuits, it is the Ferrari team that shows it's 1984 colours in grand style with Alboreto and Arnoux . Hopes of a British world champion are further raised by Derek Warwick who produced a stylish drive in his Renault to finish 2nd, moving into second place in the championship points table. Not to be missed in this race is Keke Rosberg, who makes a brilliant charge from 26th to 2nd only to fall victaim to the new fuel capacity limits when he coasts to a halt on the last lap!
