Description
There were seven World Championship races on the calendar for the 1956 season (the Swiss GP not among them, banned forever by the Swiss Government), and Fangio was now with Scuderia Ferrari. BP’s cameras followed him in his defence of his title from Buenos Aires to Monaco, Spa, Reims, Silverstone, the Nurburgring and finally Monza. He managed to retain his Championship but only by taking over his team-mates cars in three races and sharing the points. This was the year when Peter Collins came to the fore, winning two GPs at Spa and Reims. He also won immortality at Monza in the Italian GP when he gave his car to Fangio, enabling the Old Man to secure the title when Collins still had an outside chance of of winning it himself. This film contains breathtaking shots of Fangio and Moss (Maserati) among others in glorious form.
