The original Mille Miglia, often described as ‘the most dangerous race in the world’, was wiped off the motorsport racing calendar in 1957 when the Marquis de Portago crashed into the crowd, killing himself and twelve spectators. Today’s 1000 Miglia doesn’t pretend to be a modern edition of the old race but it is still a highly competitive event. The event features cars ranging from an Alfa Romeo 2300 Monza, to tiny 350cc Isettas that struggle up each incline. Stirling Moss was the first foreign driver home. Yet all who reached Brescia triumphed in this magnificently filmed account of a classic and historic Race.
