This is the race to prove that motor racing in highly changeable weather conditions is not only spectacular, but is also good motor racing!
The final round of the 1982 Endurance series saw six-times Le Mans winner Jacky Ickz and Italian Ricardo Paltrese both out to gain overall World Championship as well as individual race honours from success on the challenging British track.
Qualifying and the race were dominated by the ever-chaning conditions but this did not stop Hans Stuck in the BASF BMW-Sauber from putting on a masterful display of wet weather driving. However, the race crowd and you the viewer will probably best remember the superb charge of Ickx in the Rothmans Porsche as, again in the wet, he takes 62 seconds out of Patrese's Lancia team mate Teo Fabi in the last 35 laps.
