The cream of Formula Ford racing gathered together at Brands Hatch to contest the newly titled Slick 50 Formula Ford World Finals and celebrate its 30th anniversary. British Champion Jacky van der Ende was a favourite to win the inaugural World Finals but faced stiff competition from the likes of Ricardo Sperafico in the Haywood Racing Mygale, his twin brother Rodrigo, the Andy Welch Racing Van Diemens of Daniel Wheldon and Aluizio Coelho plus newcomer Richard Tarling.
