Of all motorcycle sports, trials is probably the one which requires the most finesse as competitors have to ride through rocky streams, up and down incredibly steep inclines, and over all sorts of similar hazards. Concentration and balance are the two most necessary attributes required to be a top class trials rider. All the action and unique atmosphere of the British round of the 1989 World Championship held at Bainbridge features here. Pre-event favourite was Steve Saunders on his Fantic machine. Thierry Michaud (Fantic), Philippe Berlatier (Beta), Diego Bosis (Aprilia), Donoto Migolo (Fantic), Jordi Tarres (Beta) and Eddy Lejeune (Montesa) however could not be discounted.
