The 87 World Motorcycle Racing Championships spread their wings further than ever before, embracing two additional continents and spanning a time frame from March to October. The 500 class was one of the most exciting so far with some devastating battles between Wayne Gardner (Rothmans Honda), Randy Mamola (Lucky Strike Yamaha), Eddie Lawson and Rob McElnea (Marlboro Yamahas) with Ron Haslam (Elf Honda), plus Raymond Roche (Cagiva). Meanwhile the 250s provided many hectic moments. Toni Mang rode brilliantly and gave the Spaniards and Italians a run for their money through the season. The Italian round, featured here in all its glory is a true collector’s item for the motorcycle GP fan.
