Description
Journey To The Edge Of The Sahara is one of the great small road trips of our time. 14 riders journeyed along some of the most beautiful roads in France and Spain before reaching the magnificent country of Morocco. Venturing into Africa the expedition stepped far back into history. Passing through Chechaouen, the riders carried on to Marrakesh known for its central square of Djemaa El Fna ('Assembly of the Dead') which forms a nightly ritual of snake charmers, monkey handlers, acrobats and drummers. On to the Tiz n Ticha Mountain Pass, routed between Marrakesh and Ait Ben Haddou. This is one of the most stunning sections of road in Morocco, perhaps one of the most dramatic in the world. At Ait Ben Haddou, a collection of Kasbahs that are amongst themost elaborately decorated in all of North Africa overlook a stunning desert landscape. Towered, crenallated with high sheer walls of dark red pise, these buildings formed a town which received caravans from across the Sahara. It was here that David Lean filmed part of Lawrence of Arabia.
This is a journey which contains the deeper kind of resonance that only real adventure brings.
