Description
This exquisite little film records Nick Sanders' round trip journey from Wales to southern Spain. Travelling with wife Hennie and their two boys, Willow and Juno, they opted to use a motorbike and sidecar. Packed with a tent, tools and an assortment of teddies they set off, like characters from a story book, to make up their own adventure.
The film is a simple tableau of things they saw and places they passed. The Champs Elysee was hectic, the boating pond in the Tuilleries a place where time stood still. In the Auverne they saw a barn brimming with shiny motorbikes and they met a chevalier who rode his horses in the way he rode his Ariel, Cloaked in snow the Pyrenees were like cold crystals. Further south and bathed in sunshine, the mountains of El Maestrazgo jutted into the blue sky like pearls of granite.
in the town of Altea, in Valencia, so grand was the Moors and Christians Festival it was like a movie set from MGM. South, deep in the Alpujarras, Enrique the musician played from his farm in the hills.
Turning for home, Nick, Hennie and two tired little boys rode back across Spain to the Basque country before boarding their ferry for Portsmouth. A small but deceptively hard jewel of an adventure. A beautiful biker movie of the first order.
