Speedway has established a place in Hull's sporting history and the team has performed at the top level of the British domestic scene. Indeed, in 1979, they were one match away from being crowned British League Champions and latterly, cup success has come the way of the club. Four World Champions have also appeared in the clubs roster at one time or another, namely Ivan Mauger, Barry Briggs, Sam Ermolenko and Egon Muller.
